Yesterday saw the Mobino team work a 16 hour day to release another iOS version of the Mobino application. What took us so long? An incredible amount of attention to detail. For good or for bad, JF (the CEO of Mobino) has an incredible attention to detail. Every word is judged, every pixel and color investigated. And those are the easy things. Submitting an app to JF for QA brings us bug reports that leave the development team either shaking our heads in disbelief or banging them on the nearest hard, flat surface. ...

99 - Habits

It seems (and I have not done any kind of research on this topic) that the “approved” way of learning things or learn to do things, is to form habits. Starting a habit is easy - everyone that has tried to live through a new years resolution knows that - but ingraining a habit is quite difficult) There are apps (of course there are apps) that can help you - I stumbled upon lift.do a couple of days ago - but they are only a help. The habit forming has to come from you, and you need to really want to do whatever it is you are doing. Looking at my life, I’m working on ingraining several habits, some with more, some with less success. ...

Stuck with read-only SD card on Mac

I was trying to use my Mac to format a 16GB SD card with the unix tool ‘dd’, but I got a ‘permission denied’ error when trying to write to it - even as root (using sudo). Examining the SD card, the write lock switch was in the correct position, but the DiskUtil tool showed that the card was read only. Weird. Some trawling the Interwebs led to the usual “plz halp me - U good” crap that is all over the forums, but also this forum discussion on the Apple Support forums. ...
