Here are applications for the P800 that I really like: ActiveDesk: When you flip open the phone, a summary of your calendar entries, tasks and messages appears. I like it better than Handy Day, YMMV Tipic is a Jabber chat client that supports AIM, ICQ and Yahoo Messenger. Cool! SymIRC is an IRC client Both are written in PJava and perform really nice. A fully connected phone, good GPRS coverage and connectivity applications are a great thing. I’m reconsidering my sceptisim on “mobile connectivity”. ...

When (If?) I find some time, expect me to try TikiWiki. It looks absolutely amazing…

Hmm - my P800 stopped syncing with Lotus Notes. It just doesn’t work anymore. I have the latest sync software, I have the latest Notes 5 version (5.0.12) and nada happens. I get the informative message, that the sync finished - but it doesn’t do anything. Of course there are no log files. There are no settings to fiddle with. Let’s see how good the SonyEricsson support is… . First impression: Their knowledgebase is useless. First of all, it doesn’t recognize Opera (but a quick CTRL-ALT-I in Opera to make it identify as IE fixed that ;-) then the answers are not very helpful (“Yes, there is software to sync with Notes”) ...

Browsing through the referrers, I found this site with LotusScript snippets. This looks really useful - specially the MsXML and the string classes… Notes is a fun coding environment - so every bit of help helps ;-)

While I use Opera as my day to day browser, for webdevelopment there’s no way around Mozilla. Gemal has an article about development with Mozilla and talks about the DOM inspector, the HTTP Liveheader viewer (which I needed this very moment to debug an interaction between a browser, an authentication server and a PeopleSoft application server) in order to script a transaction with curl.

I’ve been an on and off Opera user back in the Opera 4, 5 and 6 days. Ever since Opera 7 came out however, Opera is the single browser I use. Today Opera 7.11 is released.
