Finally the “garden working” days have started. As the end of the development and deployment of a major feature of the Mobino backend (alas, totally invisible to the users, but simplifying a lot internally), the tech team spent the afternoon in our garden, fixing a few problems (suddenly, the database changed the way it returned data, leading to much joy because suddenly something that in fact was buggy (but worked) turned out to be just buggy) and enjoying the sun and warmth of a wonderful spring day. ...

Finally the sun has come back into our world - the last few weeks have been way to gray for my taste. Back in 2008 I read “the most amazing piece of software I have seen so far” by vowe where he described software that was able to do Direct Note Access (DNA) on recorded sound, effectively giving you the tools to change the notes (pitch or timing) of complex pieces of music. Yesterday I stumbled upon it again and downloaded the demo version of Melodyne and used it to correct some of my horrible singing on a recording (as well as correcting a few wrong notes in the guitar part) ...

Today my computer alerted me to no more room on the main disk - strange, because there were over 140 GB free. I fired up Activity Monitor to check for disk and memory and lo and behold - something was very very wrong… No idea what UserEventAgent was doing - I forgot to check for which files it had open but 50GB of virtual memory seems just a bit excessive… ...

What a ride the BTC vs any other currency has made in the last 48 hours. I don’t envy the people that have invested in Bitcoin (and especially those that have gotten on the bandwagon in the last few weeks) Tonight I was a virtual guest at one of the german Pirate Parties and spent around 2 hours talking and discussing about Bitcoin: “Was ist Bitcoin”. There should be a recording of the event and I will post a link as soon as I have it. ...
